The course

The Boat Rescue award has no prerequisites. In this eight-hour training course, we will spend some time in the classroom, some time on boats and some time in the pool. Fitness on 5th is located at 320 - 5 Avenue S.E. Transportation to the pool is available.

The course emphasizes safety of the rescuer and others in a boating environment. The award remains current for two years but will serve as your CYA swimming prerequisite for three years. Please see "what to bring" below.

If you have current or expired Bronze Medallion or Bronze Cross award you may recertify. We will try to accommodate you on this occasion, but this will require special arrangements so please let me know as soon as possible.

What to bring

• Current or expired certification if recertifying (feel free to email this)
• Course fees, cash or cheque payable to Ian Leitch
• Pencil
• Questions
• Smiles
• Money for parking, money for lunch
• Lunch & snacks if you like – there will be time to buy lunch if you prefer
• Sailing gear with towel and change of clothes as usual
• Swim suit and towel for the pool
• A lock for the lockers if you wish
• Clean clothing you can swim in - shoes, pants, shirt, windbreaker
• A clean PFD
• A wet suit for the pool if you like
• I will need your name, address, postal code, area code, phone number and date of birth for Lifesaving Society records. Feel free to send this in advance.
